2019 Application Guidelines
 

1. Write a brief letter describing

(a) your interests and talents and what you have done to develop them
(b) your goals for the future and how you will continue your education
(c) how the award might help you financially

Include your name, address, phone number, and e-mail address.

2. Add any material you think might help us evaluate your work, such as a CD, photographs etc., and please indicate if any items should be returned to you.

3. Include a letter of recommendation from someone familiar with your work who is in an objective position to evaluate it
(perhaps a teacher or artist you have worked with.)

4. Submit your application by Wednesday, May 8, 2019 in person or by mail to

In the evaluation process the committee considers each applicant’s individual talent, initiative, focus, desire to pursue a career in the arts, and financial need. The committee reserves the right to split the award between student and alumni categories and judges applications within the context of their category. If the initial review produces several qualified candidates, more information and possibly an interview or audition may be requested. Individual committee members will exclude themselves from deliberations if there is any potential conflict of interest due to personal connections.

Please feel free to contact a member of the Award Committee if you have specific questions. Applicants will be notified in late May, and the award presentation will take place at Hawthorne Valley School on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.
